Rumbletums receives Power to Change Funding

RUMBLETUMS AWARDED £150,000 GRANT FROM POWER TO CHANGE

Rumbletums is very pleased to announce that it has been awarded a grant of £150,000 from Power to Change, as independent trust that supports community businesses in England.
Rumbletums Community Café launched its fund-raising campaign almost a year ago in July 2018. In order to continue its work as a supported training project, offering work experience to young people with a learning disability, it is necessary to buy the premises it has rented since 2011.

This grant will give Rumbletums £120,000 towards the purchase of the premises and another £30,000 to prepare for refurbishments that will enhance its place as a community hub. Rumbletums will continue to raise funds but now can, at last, be confident of the future of Rumbletums in the heart of Kimberley.

Derek Gardiner, Chairman of Rumbletums Trustees said: “We are absolutely delighted and very grateful to have received this grant from Power to Change. We are also so pleased that the local community has overwhelmingly showed its support for Rumbletums and rallied to our cause. Since July 2018 we have raised over £49,000 from donations and through events. We have also been promised an award of £10,000 from a separate charitable trust which, in total, is the target we set out raise.

“We have so many people and organisations to thank for their commitment and perseverance in raising funds for us – Power to Change of course, but also those who organised or volunteered at events or gave up their time in other fundraising initiatives or who donated directly or through our GoFundMe page, and also Jeff Buck who tirelessly co-ordinated the application to Power to Change. We would also like to thank our staff and volunteers for their loyalty and commitment through these difficult months and of course, our trainees, who work so hard and make the whole project so worthwhile.

“Rumbletums was set up to offer work experience opportunities and training to young people with learning disabilities and the need for this sort of service has not diminished in the nearly eight years we’ve been in business. We’re determined that Rumbletums will survive and continue to offer a service to the people of Kimberley and to young people from across the county. Thank You!”

The Community Business Fund offers grants between £50,000 and £300,000 to existing community businesses, based in England. Grants are designed to help community businesses to grow and become more financially sustainable. For further information follow this link.
